Academic Task Management - one-on-one academic services

Kurt Lazaroff  Ph.d.

I have established Academic Task Management to provide individual academic support to all students engaged in learning activities within a school-based environment.  Focused on undergraduate and graduate students, my methods rely on analyzing the tasks, planning the time and strategies required to maximize learning by providing individualized support and oversight based on student needs.

I have worked in both K-12 and higher education settings as a teaching faculty member. I am a first-generation college goer and spent four frustrating years figuring out how to be a student. After time spent working in retail store management, including owning my own restaurants, I went back to graduate school to get a master's degree in education. It was this experience that lead to my own breakthrough into "A" grade territory.  I completed my PH.D in education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a focus on post-secondary transition.  Basically, I have learned the hard way how to build my skills as a learner.  You may have noticed that there is no mention of executive function or learning styles on this website. It is important to keep discussion of the skills and habits a student is learning at a practical  and applicable level.  I have earned the "been there, done that" award for academic skill development, studied the theoretical aspect of learning to learn and have come full-circle back to the basics.

I grew up in Springvale, Maine and as an adult I have lived in parts of both Pennsylvania and North Carolina. My wife and I divide our time beween work at George Mason University and gardening on ten acres in south-central Pennsylvania.
